Reading the screen

What every bar, number and button on the HUD means.

Top left

  • Heart bar: your health. The screen edges pulse red when it's low.
  • Lightning bar: your energy. A dark red section at the end means thirst is capping it.
  • Can and drop numbers: hunger and thirst, out of 100. They turn red below 25.
  • Weight: how many kilos you're carrying, out of your limit.
  • Name and level: your player name (or GUEST) and level, with a gold bar showing progress to the next level. "+XP" pops up next to it when you earn some.

Top middle

  • Clock: the day and time. The icon is a sun in daylight and a moon after dark.
  • Pause button.
  • Co-op code (green, only when playing with friends): the world's code and how many players are in. Tap it for the co-op menu.

Top right

  • Minimap: your spot in gold, zombies as red dots, and a blinking gold square for your current goal. The red number is how many zombies are close. Tap it for the big map and Fast Travel.
  • Place name: the street, building or area you're in.
  • Quest star: solid gold means something is ready (a new quest, fresh jobs on the notice board, or a delivery you can hand in). Blinking means a quest is under way. Dim means nothing's going on. Tap it to open your quests.

Bottom

  • Hotbar in the middle.
  • Attack, Use, Roll and Bag buttons on the right (or the left, with left-hand attack on).

See Controls for what the buttons do.
